Dr. Vamsinadh Thota

Dr. Vamsinadh Thota is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NITT).
He received his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, during 2012–2017, under the supervision of Prof. P. Shunmugaraj. His doctoral dissertation, titled "Some Geometric and Approximation Theoretic Properties in Banach Spaces". He earned his Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Applied Mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in 2012 and his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mathematics from Acharya Nagarjuna University in 2009.
His research interests lie in Functional Analysis, with a primary focus on the Geometry of Banach Spaces and Approximation Theory in Banach Spaces. His research includes the geometric and structural properties of Banach spaces, best approximation, simultaneous approximation, norm-attaining operators, orthogonality in Banach spaces, smoothness and convexity properties of normed spaces, the study of non-expansive mappings, and fixed point theory. He is also interested in the relationships among Banach space geometry, operator theory, nonlinear analysis, and approximation theory, with the aim of advancing the theoretical foundations of these areas and exploring their applications.
Dr. Thota is actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, mentoring students, and guiding research activities in Functional Analysis and related areas. He welcomes collaborations and research interactions with scholars and students working in Functional Analysis, Banach Space Theory, Approximation Theory, Fixed Point Theory, and nonlinear analysis.
