Dr N. Ramesh Babu (Dr NRB) joined the National Institute of Technology as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in April 2006. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering since Sep 2022. Dr NRB obtained his PhD from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, in 2007. He received the Best PhD Thesis award from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 2007. Dr NRB obtained his M.Tech and AMIIM degrees in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, and the Indian Institute of Metals, Kolkata. At NIT Trichy, he taught Physical Metallurgy, Nonferrous Physical Metallurgy, Biomaterials, Ceramic Materials, Electrical, Magnetic and Optical Materials courses. He has published 90+ research papers in SCI/SCIE/Scopus-indexed journals with 3500+ citations, and his H-Index is 33. As a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator, he has contributed to 12 different research projects funded by DBT- New Delhi, DST- New Delhi, DRDO-New Delhi, SERB-New Delhi, etc., on Biomaterials and Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation Coatings. He has guided 7 PhDs and 1 MS, and currently, he is guiding 6 PhDs., including external scholars.
