ONOS (One Nation One Subscription)

ONOS (One Nation One Subscription) is a Government of India initiative available in the Central Library, NIT Tiruchirappalli, providing seamless access to scholarly e-resources through national-level subscriptions. The service offers access to 13,000+ peer-reviewed e-journals from 30+ leading publishers, including reputed publishers such as Elsevier, Springer Nature, Wiley, Taylor & Francis, IEEE, ACS, AIP, and others. It enables NITT students, faculty members, and researchers to access high-quality research articles, journals, and academic resources across diverse disciplines, supporting teaching, learning, and advanced research activities.

IRINS

IRINS (Indian Research Information Network System) is a web-based Research Information Management (RIM) service that provides comprehensive profiles of staff/faculties, including their publications, citations, research impact, projects, patents, and collaborations, categorized by departments. It also integrates author identity metrics such as ORCID ID, Scopus Author ID, Researcher ID, Google Scholar profile, citation counts, h-index, and i10-index for accurate identification and assessment of research contributions.

Shodhganga

The Ministry of Education, GoI, has asked the Institute to upload the full text of Ph.D. theses on Shodhganga, a reservoir of Indian Ph.D. theses. In this regard, the Central Library has taken up the initiative to upload and maintain the Ph.D. theses of NIT Trichy researchers in the Shodhganga repository. Currently, we have uploaded the theses of researchers awarded in the year 2022–23. This initiative enhances the visibility of NIT Trichy’s research contributions and provides wider access to scholarly knowledge for researchers and academic communities worldwide.

BIS Corner

BIS Corner at NIT Trichy is a dedicated space located in Room No. 201, Central Library, NIT Trichy, aimed at promoting awareness about standards, quality, safety, and innovation among students. It serves as a platform connecting the academic community with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) through awareness programs, learning resources, workshops, and various interactive activities. The initiative helps students understand the significance of standardization and quality practices, empowering future engineers to contribute effectively to nation-building, technological progress, and sustainable development.

Institutional Repository

The Institutional Repository preserves, organizes, and provides open access to dissertations, research articles, conference papers, faculty publications, project reports, and other scholarly resources of NIT Tiruchirappalli. It serves as a central digital platform for collecting, managing, and disseminating the Institute’s intellectual output, ensuring long-term preservation and wider visibility of academic and research contributions. The repository facilitates easy access to scholarly materials for students, researchers, faculty members, and the global academic community, promoting knowledge sharing, collaboration, and research advancement. It also supports the Institute’s commitment to open access, digital preservation, and the dissemination of quality research outcomes.

Digital Knowledge Centre

The Digital Knowledge Centre (e-Learning Centre) has been established by the Central Library to support e-learning, digital literacy, and academic research. The Centre provides access to a wide range of electronic resources, including e-books, e-journals, online databases, digital repositories, and other web-based learning materials. The Centre is equipped with 30 latest-model computer systems with high-speed Internet and Intranet connectivity, enabling users to access digital resources efficiently. Wi-Fi connectivity is also available for students, faculty, and researchers using laptops and other mobile devices.

5G Wi-Fi Facility

The Central Library provides 5G Wi-Fi connectivity to ensure fast, secure, and uninterrupted internet access for students, faculty members, researchers, and library users. The facility enables efficient access to online learning resources, digital libraries, e-journals, e-books, and academic databases. The availability of high-speed wireless connectivity across the library premises supports digital learning, research activities, and the effective use of technology-based library services.

24×7 Smart CCTV & Web Camera Surveillance

All library sections are equipped with a 24 × 7 CCTV surveillance system covering reading halls, stack areas, circulation sections, and other facilities. The surveillance system ensures the safety of users, protects valuable library resources, prevents theft and unauthorized activities, and helps maintain a secure, disciplined, and comfortable learning environment for students, faculty members, and researchers.

RFID Technology

RFID Technology of Document Identification and Library Security System has been implemented for library functions including RFID tags for document protection, RFID reader for circulation transactions and RFID antenna alarm gates.

Remote Access to E-Resources

Central Library is providing remote access to all subscribed e-resources for Faculties, PDFs, and Research Scholars through MyLOFT application. Research Scholars need to send a request email to librarian@nitt.edu for their account creation. After your account is created, a welcome mail reaches your institute affiliated email id (if not found, check Spam folder/ MyLOFT in Junk Summary). There is an option to “Set Password” in that mail. Click on the option. It will open a new tab and will ask you to create a password.
