Counselling and Guidance Cell
ABOUT THE COUNSELLING AND GUIDANCE CELL (CGC)
The Counselling and Guidance Cell (CGC) functions under the Office of the Dean (Students’ Welfare) and is committed to promoting the mental health, emotional well-being, and holistic development of students. The Cell is managed by dedicated faculty coordinators and professional counsellors who provide accessible and confidential support services to students. To strengthen peer support and enhance outreach across the campus, CGC has established an active student body led by a CGC Secretary. This student-led network facilitates greater awareness, accessibility, and timely support for students who may require assistance. CGC strives to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive campus environment that enables students to thrive academically, socially, and personally. Through preventive, developmental, and intervention-based initiatives, the Cell promotes positive mental health and student wellbeing.
As part of its regular activities, CGC conducts workshops and awareness programmes on emotional wellness, stress management, psychological well-being, relationship-building, mindfulness, awareness of anxiety and depression, resilience, and life skills development. The Cell also organizes therapeutic and recreational activities such as board games, crochet, origami, art therapy, and other creative engagement sessions that encourage relaxation and self-expression. In addition, CGC commemorates important observances such as World Mental Health Day and World Suicide Prevention Day, conducts orientation programmes for freshers and parents, and provides sensitization training for Faculty members, student representatives, Residential Student Counsellors (RSCs), Hostel Stewards, Hospital Staff, Security Personnel and other stakeholders to facilitate the early identification and support of students experiencing distress.
