Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Member, NITI Aayog has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest and deliver the Convocation Address.

Prof. Abhay Karandikar is a Member of NITI Aayog and an eminent academician, researcher, and technology leader with extensive experience in higher education, telecommunications, and science policy. Prior to joining NITI Aayog, he served as Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, from 3 October 2023 to 18 May 2026, where he played a pivotal role in operationalizing several transformative national initiatives, including the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and the National Quantum Mission. He also spearheaded the implementation of the ₹1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation Fund to support cutting-edge research in the private sector and deep-tech startups, while launching major programmes in clean energy, green hydrogen, advanced materials, geospatial technologies, manufacturing, research infrastructure, technology incubation, and international collaborative R&D. Earlier, he served as Director of Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur from April 2018 to October 2023, following over two decades as a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay from 1997 to 2018. An internationally acclaimed researcher, Prof. Karandikar has made pioneering contributions to AI-driven programmable protocols for 6G and played a key role in the evolution of global IEEE standards for 5G. Under his leadership, IEEE 1930.1, the first IEEE standard led by Indian researchers, established an SDN-based middleware framework for network control and management. His work on affordable broadband access also resulted in the formation of the Frugal 5G working group and the development of IEEE 2061, a global standard for low-mobility, energy-efficient broadband networks. His areas of expertise include telecommunications, wireless networking, electronics and semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and quantum communication.

  • All UG (B.Tech. / B.Arch.) students who have cleared their dues, as well as those who do not have any outstanding dues, are requested to download their Provisional Certificate, Transfer Certificate, and Transcript from the No Dues Portal: https://nodues.nitt.edu.
  • The original copies of the Transfer Certificate and Transcript will be issued on the day of the Convocation and will be included in the degree folder provided to the graduands.

Note:

  • All UG students of B.Tech. (2022 batch) and B.Arch. (2021 batch) are requested to fill in the essential details in the No Dues Portal: https://nodues.nitt.edu
  • The updated details will be verified by the Academic Office. Upon verification, the scanned copies of the Provisional Certificate and Transfer Certificate will be uploaded to the No Dues Portal.
  • Students will be permitted to download the Provisional Certificate and Transfer Certificate from the portal only after clearance of all dues.
  • As the results for B.Tech. (2022 batch) and B.Arch. (2021 batch) were published on 26.05.2026, the facility for downloading the Provisional Certificate and Transfer Certificate will be enabled in the portal after 15 days from the date of publication of results.
