M. Sc.

Orientation (PG)NEW

The Orientation Programme for Postgraduate (PG) students serves as an essential platform to welcome and induct new entrants into the academic, research, and cultural environment of the institute. It familiarizes students with the institution’s vision, mission, and academic regulations, while also introducing them to the faculty, facilities, research opportunities, and support systems available on campus. The programme offers an overview of academic expectations, assessment methods, code of conduct, and the range of extracurricular and co-curricular activities that can enrich their overall educational experience. By providing this foundation, the orientation helps students transition smoothly from their previous academic background into the advanced, specialized, and research-focused world of postgraduate study.

The importance of the Orientation Programme lies in its role as a bridge between the student’s entry into the institute and their journey toward academic and professional excellence. It instills a sense of belonging, motivates students to set high aspirations, and fosters early connections with peers, faculty, and mentors. By creating an environment of openness and collaboration from day one, the programme encourages students to explore interdisciplinary opportunities, develop critical thinking skills, and embrace innovation. It also emphasizes the values of ethics, responsibility, and lifelong learning—qualities that are indispensable for a successful career in academia, industry, or research.

CCMN 2025NEW

Centralized Counselling for M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Tech.) admission (CCMN) is a common platform for candidates to apply for M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Tech.) programmes, based on their JAM score of year, in NITs, IIEST Shibpur and some GFTIs. This centralized system provides a common and convenient platform for online counselling wherein the candidates can fill in a single online application from their homes and apply to all programmes in all the participating institutions to which they are eligible. The CCMN was initiated in the year 2015 for centralized admission for PG (M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Tech.)) programmes and since then has undergone several changes to make it more student friendly and included newer institutions under its umbrella. CCMN provides an enormously increased overall convenience for the candidates. The prospective candidates are advised to carefully read the information brochure and various other documents given on the CCMN website.
