Campus Communication Services
Campus Communication Services (CCS) is a service unit of the E.C.E. department that takes care of the communication needs of the campus residents. Telephone facilities have been provided in the academic departments, administrative office, hostels and in the residences. An ALCATEL 4300/S EPABX has been installed in the administrative building. This acts as the backbone for all our communication needs. The institute can be contacted through 10 dedicated DoT lines. Another set of 5 dedicated lines enables Direct Inward Dialing (D.I.D). Through D.I.D. any extension number can be contacted without routing the call through the operator.
In addition, 2 STD booths are being operated round the clock for use by the staff and students. One more STD booth has been commissioned in Opal hostel for use by the girl students. CCS is responsible for the purchase, installation and maintenance of EPABX and telephone instruments.
CCS also provides Satellite Telecast channels to the residents on the campus. Currently, popular channels on news, sports and entertainment in Tamil, English, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam are telecast through cable. Telecast activities are controlled and monitored from a Master Control Room. Dedicated staff attend to the installation and maintenance of equipment. All the satellite channels are telecast round the clock.
