Research Interest

We do Nanophotonics (some special areas in it )

1. Nanomaterial synthesis , optical properties and Ultraviolet sensing

Semiconductor nano structures are one of the highly interesting materials for future electronic, photonic and opto-electronic devices. Preparation and band gap tailoring gains interest due to the potentiality of these materials. Currently, we are preparing doped and un- doped ZnO, Co3O4, MgO nanoparticles and study their optical properties.

2. Raman Spectroscopy of Nanomaterials

(Nanoscale, 2019,11, 4948-4958)

3. Nonlinear Optics
Laser interaction with nanostructural materials is important for Photonics and Nanotechnology.  Size dependent and host dependent properties of nanosized metal and semiconductor clusters are very interesting.  Apart from this Intensity and frequency of exciting laser also plays a crucial in their nonlinear light transmitting property.

4. Fluorescence spectroscopy based Bio Sensors and time resolved fluorescence spectroscopy

We study the photoluminescence sensing of bio molecules using quantum dots. QDs of size 5–20 nm size will be synthesized by hydrothermal method. The prepared QDs exhibit very strong luminescence and these QDs are used to study the FRET and NSET based sensing applications. Also we do photonic logic gates

5. Green-Synthesis and photocatalysis
We synthesis nanoparticles using green synthesis and study its optical and photocatalytic applications. We usually prepare Carbon dots and RGO using Biological way sometimes using High Power laser irradiations.

6. Corrosion and corrosion prevention

We study hidden and accelerated corrosion detection in Aluminium (Al) alloys and steel alloys using ultrasonic and physical methods like XRD and RAMAN . These alloys are widely used marine and aircraft application where corrosion plays a major role in failure of metal. Our main aim is to find hidden and accelerated corrosion and way to idetify the prevention.
