History
The Department of Mathematics was established in 1964 with the inception of the then Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli. The department offers mathematics courses to B.Tech., M.Tech., M.Sc., and Ph.D. students of the Institute. It regularly organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences in various areas of theoretical and applied mathematics.
The Department offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in mathematics and its applications, enabling students to pursue careers in academia, research, and industry. Recently, the Department received funding under the DST–FIST scheme.
