MISSION
MILESTONES OF THE DEPARTMENT
1980- Department was started with an intake of 15 students for the B.Arch Programme, affiliation to Madras University (accommodated in the then Physics block)
1982- Affiliation to Bharathidasan University
1983- Architecture department moved to a separate building – present Telecom block
1986- Autonomous status granted by Bharathidasan University, Intake increased to 30
1989- Moved to Silver Jubilee building
2003- REC became NIT with Deemed University status, PhD programme started in Architecture dept.
2004 – Established exclusive Computer lab for the department
2010- Moved to current building, designed by Prof. Joseph Newman Fernando
2014 – Refurbished Computer lab
2015- Intake increased to 60
2016- M.Arch Programme in Energy Efficient & Sustainable Architecture started with an intake of 20 students
2018- Annexe block & 2nd floor were added (Architects Dr. G. Subbaiyan & Dr.P. Gopalakrishnan)
