5^th CONVOCATION

Dear Graduand,

We are glad to inform you that the 5^th Convocation of the Institute will be held on Saturday, 22^nd August, 2009 at 10.30 a.m. at the Barn Hall of the Institute. Shri. M. A. Alagappan, Executive Chairman, Murugappa Group, Chennai has graciously consented to be the Chief Guest of the Convocation.

On behalf of the Director, Faculty, Staff and Students, we have great pleasure in cordially inviting you to attend the Convocation.

We are pleased to invite your parents / guardians to this happy occasion and witness your graduation. The official invitation will be issued to you when you collect the gown from the Reception Office at the labs as detailed below:

Non-circuit branches - Automobile Lab, Mechanical Engineering Department.

Circuit branches - Power Electronics Lab, EEE Department

Important Information

· If you desire to attend the Convocation and receive the degree in person, please fill Form I and send the same by E-mail to convo2009@nitt.edu

· The Institute will arrange to supply the gown for the occasion at the Convocation Reception Office in the corresponding labs.

· Please note that for operational convenience, the gowns will be issued from 3.00 pm onwards on 21^st August 2009 to the graduand in person. To avoid possible embarrassment to graduands and their parents, please note that, Gowns will not be issued to proxy.

· Institute bus will be available at Tiruchirappalli Junction at 9.00 PM on 21.08.2009 and 4.30 a.m & 05.30 am on 22.08.2009.

· Breakfast and lunch will be available at the Mega Mess of the Institute.

· The graduands are requested to wear formal attire befitting the occasion.

· A refundable deposit of Rs. 100/- has to be deposited while collecting the Gowns. The deposit towards the Gown shall be refunded on the return of the gown immediately after convocation.

· Graduands are required to occupy the allotted seats at Barn Hall before 09.30 a.m. on 22.08.2009.

· Please note that Children below 12 years are not allowed into the BARN hall during the Convocation.

· In case you are unable to be present at the Convocation, please fill in Form II of the enclosed format for taking the degree IN ABSENTIA and send the same by email to convo2009@nitt.edu. On receipt of your request, the degree certificate and brochure will be sent to your address immediately after the Convocation.
