Short term course on 'Advanced Control Theory' Sponsored by TEQIP on 30th and 31st of August 2013.

Scope of the Training Program:

The main aim of this two days program is to introduce and educate the participants about advancement in modern control theory and its applications. Control engineering plays a vital role in our day-to-day life and not much exposed to the general engineering community due to its mathematical complexity involved. This expert lectures help in understanding the modern concepts in control engineering and motivates the participants to pursue their research.

 

Resource Persons  

Dr.Debasish Ghose

Dr. Debasish Ghose presently working as a Professor in the Department of AEROSPACE Engineering at IISC BANGALORE. He has done his both PhD and Master’s at IISC Bangalore and BSc engineering in REC ROURKELA in Electrical department.

 His areas of interests are:

  • Guidance and control of autonomous vehicles, with special focus on aerospace and underwater vehicles.
  • Guidance theory, sliding mode control based guidance, collision avoidance algorithms, path planning, trajectory optimization
  • Multi-agent systems with application to control of UAVs and robot swarms for search and surveillance operations and contaminant monitoring

 

Dr.S. Janardhanan

 

 

Dr. Janardhan presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi. He has done his both PhD and Master’s at IIT, BOMBAY, and Bachelor’s in University of Madras.

His areas of interests are:

  •   Discrete-time Systems
  •   Sliding mode control
  •   Robust control

 

Dr.Arun D. Mahindrakar

 

 

Dr. Arun presently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT MADRAS. He has done his PhD at IIT BOMBAY in 2004, M-Tech in VJTI,  MUMBAI and B-Tech in KLESCET, BELGAM.

His areas of interests are:

  • Stabilization of nonlinear systems
  • Controllability of nonholonomic systems
  • State constrained stabilization of nonlinear systems
  • Control based Voroni graph generation
  • Sliding mode control for robust stabilization of nonholonomic systems
  • Discontinuous control of nonholonomic systems

 

Dr.Bharath Bhikkaji


Dr. Bharath presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT MADRAS. He has done his PhD at Uppsala University, Uppsala (Sweden) in 2004, Master’s in IISC, BANGLORE and Bachelor of Science in Vivekananda College in Mathematics.

His areas of interests are:

  • System Identification
  • Modeling and Control of resonant systems
  • Vibration control of active structures
  • Actuation of Mechatronic Systems

Dr.Ramakrishna Pasumarthy

 

Dr. Ramakrishna presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT MADRAS. He has done his PhD at University of Twente, Nederlands and Master’s in university of MUMBAI and Bachelor’s in Bhilai institute of technology, Drug.

His areas of interests are:

  • Systems and control theory
  • Nonlinear control systems
  • Modeling and discretization of infinite-dimensional physical systems and systems with time delay in the port-Hamiltonian framework.

Dr.A.Ramakalyan

Dr. Ramakalyan presently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering at NIT TRICHY. He has done his PhD at IIT DELHI and done both Master’s and Bachelor’s in Andhra University, Visakhapatnam.

 

His areas of interests are:

  • Mathematical Control Theory
  • Numerical Linear Algebra
  • Algorithms and Computational Complexity

 

Dr.V. Sankaranarayanan

 

Dr. Sankaranarayanan presently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at NIT TRICHY. He has done his PhD at IIT BOMBAY and Master’s in NIT TRICHY and Bachelor’s in Gov. College of engineering, Tiruneveli.

 

His areas of interests are:

  •       Nonlinear control
  •       Control of under actuated systems
  •       Sliding mode control
  •       Constrained stabilization

 

Information for Registrants

With a view to give individual attention to the participants and to make the program more effective, the number of participants is restricted to about 40. The registration fee includes workshop kit, food and re-freshments .Accommodation for the participants may be arranged in the institute guest house / hostels on request at free of cost.  Normally it will be a twin shared accommodation.

Faculties from other college - Rs 200

The registration fee must be paid by DD in favour of “The Director, NIT, Tiruchirappalli” and payable at SBI, NIT, Tiruchirappalli.
