We live in a connected age where every entity is linked to every other through numerous relationships thus forming complex networks, social networks, information networks etc. In this meshy scenario, storing, analyzing, managing, extracting information are going to be highly challenging task. Information retrieval happened to be an activity that only a few people engaged in. Due to the advent of search engines and communication facilities, today millions of people engage in information retrieval and extraction process with the help of Alta Vista, Ask Jeeves, Excite, Google, Yahoo etc. by various means including handheld and mobile devices. Also, efficient handling of semi-structured data is becoming an important issue for many web and enterprise applications. This in turn has given academicians, researchers, corporate etc. to think of opportunities and avenues to come up with solutions to get information as they wish in any form involving semantics. The field of Information Retrieval is moving towards semantic level from keyword level.
